Hay Making Season

What do you do when the sun shines in Devon?

You make hay of course. With the summer well and truly on its way, we’ve been seeing some excellent hay making weather and we’ve been taking advantage of it. Our first cut is already completed, baled and brought in and we’re planning our second cut already.

With the introduction of our drying system, we’ve invested in some more machinery for the farm and have been seeing the benefits of using our own kit and manpower already. We would usually have brought in contractors to do this for us. This enables us to react to our changeable weather patterns, being in between Dartmoor and Exmoor can be challenging sometimes, and allows us to plan our time more effectively rather than having to fit in with contractors’ availability.

All these factors make us more efficient as a farm and business, giving us more flexibility, which reflects in the production of our many products.
