A family business since 1991

Welcome to Newlands Farm

Newlands Farm is situated near Winkleigh amongst the rolling hills of North Devon. Our family have been working this area since the 1950s as sheep farmers, expanding into the hay and straw business in 1991. We’re passionate about where we live and work, supporting local rural areas and enabling the long-term protection of the countryside.

Our Approach

By employing the most modern, energy efficient ways of producing and packing combined with an old fashioned approach of using traditional natural produce we aim to be a company for the future. One that is competitive, but with a strong moral code and a sense of responsibility both to our community and our planet as a whole.

Sustainable Farming

Devon is a patchwork quilt of small farms and ancient meadows, bordered by hedgerows dating back to Medieval times. To protect this beautiful landscape and encourage wildlife we have set aside areas of our farm where a rich abundance of wildflowers, purple orchids and herbs grow naturally in the fields making our hay truly unique and the best quality it can be.

Recyclable Packaging

With a growing range of products, we've become increasingly aware of wastage and recyclability so have been busy replacing plastic materials with compostable alternatives such as the cellulose used to wrap Forage Bars or the potato starch that Sweet Green Hay is hermetically sealed in. All of them keeping our products fresh and dry without compromising on quality, and giving us peace of mind.

Green Energy

At Newlands Farm we are recycling more, reducing our energy consumption and using renewable energy. On the roof of our manufacturing barn a 175Kw solar array provides a large percentage of electricity requirements. Along with biomass boilers that power the hay drying facility, fuelled by locally produced wood chips, we've got a winning formula for our energy needs.
